Sooo, I've sort of abandoned this little blog for a couple months. Sorry about that. The last couple of months have been fantastic, so here's a little update.

The wedding is mostly planned, so here are some of the details. It will be on July 31st beginning in the morning here:

It's coming up fast! I can't believe we've been engaged for almost 5 months!

Moving on, Daryn had a birthday and I made him this cake. I learned that making a cake like this takes a really long time. Wedding cake prices make a little more sense now.

We went on a little trip to Southern California at the end of April and we just couldn't go without throwing in a day for Disneyland. We just went at Christmas and we're going to Disney world for our honeymoon. If we ever move to California (and I hope everyday that we do) we will have season passes.

However, we did not go to California just to go to Disneyland. It was actually to go to the premier of Daryn's movie My Girlfriend's Boyfriend at the Newport Beach film festival. See trailer here. It was fantastic. It was so great to see all Daryn's work over the last couple of years come together and turn out so well.

We also had some fantastic company on this trip. So fun!

Also, Christina, Jason and Javen came into town for a quick trip last week. I only got to see them for a couple hours one night, but I am leaving for Memphis in the morning. Yay! More posts to come. Maybe...

Saturday this fine piece of machinery came into my life, and swept me off my feet. We've been inseparable since. I have a feeling we are going to be very happy together.

Cupcake Weekend

Friday, this lovely surprise arrived in my mailbox:

Saturday I had to test it out, and these were the result:

Sunday, I used the apron my sister made me for Christmas for a photo op (I conveniently forgot I had it when actually baking the cupcakes):

It was a Betty Crocker weekend!

Lessons learned:

1. Filling the cupcake cups to the top in the pan, does not make bigger cupcakes. It does make a big mess in oven.

2. 5 1/2 cups of icing will only decorate about 20 cupcakes. (that's a little over 1/4 cup per cupcake! eeek!)

3. You cannot make homemade icing and decorate cupcakes with four different icing colors in an hour. It takes more like four.

4. You will need a shower, and your clothes will need to be washed when you are done.

Bridesmaids

I've been drooling over these brooch bouquets all morning. Aren't they gorgeous? Since purchasing one is pretty much out of the questions (they're a little pricey), I'm going to figure out a way to make one.

This New Year's Eve was the best one yet, and probably ever. I got engaged. Squeeeeee!!!! Nothing really tops that. The smile has not left my face.

From now until July 31st this will pretty much be a wedding planning blog, which may or may not be the reason I started it in the first place. I knew 25 was going to be a good year.

This little guy was in town over Thanksgiving and he will be back in a little over a week for Christmas. I seriously can't get enough of him.

Silly Girl Catie: Didn’t Jacob make you smile? I think I love him. Nevermind that I’m nearly a decade older.

LC: Oh yeah, you mean the guy that was pretty much Edward, except he’s a werewolf not a vampire. Yeah, wasn’t that great how ne never put on a shirt because of his elevated body temp, but yet he slept with blankets…..odd?

SGC: Wha? Shirts are completely unnecessary for werewolves. Drool….

LC: Please wipe off your chin. You’re scaring the little girls. Wait, why are there LITTLE girls here? Didn’t I just see someone’s head get twisted off?

SCG: AWWW, look! That 4 yr. old is licking the Jacob poster. Precious!

LC: Ok, leaving now.

SCG: Wait! Let’s see it again in the next 12 hours!

LC: Nope. Done.

Last night D and I played the new Super Mario Bros. game for Wii. The best feature about this game? Two people can play at once! On the same screen! The days of split screens and switching on and off are over. I am loving this game.

This dress forced me to break my "nothing over $20 rule today." I have never bought something from Anthro, with the exception of my cute crystal drawer pulls for the vanity in my room (for $12), even though every visit to that store leaves me wiping the drool from my chin. The time had finally come, and I could not hold back any longer. Maybe when I get over my guilt the shoes and the tights will be next?

For the last little while D has been growing a beard. Generally I'm a fan of the unkept slightly rugged look, when done properly of course, but this is most definitely NOT OK!

The worst thing about this heinous strip of hair resting above his upper lip? It makes me itch. On my hands. Not kidding. Apparently I'm allergic to mustaches.

Sunday D and I went downtown to Memory Grove and Temple Square to take some pictures with my new camera, (thanks Dad.) The leaves are gorgeous everywhere right now. Fall might win my love one day after all.

My favorite part of Halloween is making my own costume. This year I am going as a Vulcan member of Star Fleet. My other half is going as Spock. NERDS! (yes, I know) I considered Ohura, but that red dress is just so teensie! Stay tuned for pictures of the finished product.

Crafty Motivation

When I first decided I was going to write a blog my main purpose for doing so was so I could showcase all my crafts I am working on. As of yet, there are no crafts for showcasing. I do, however have a four day weekend ahead of me, and I just checked out the fantastic new Amy Butler fabrics at Fat Quarter Shop. To die for!

Also, our bathroom was retiled this week, and I suddenly have the urge to improve it's appearance. I guess we'll see what kind of motivation I can find. The fabric swatches below certainly didn't hurt. Find them here.
